How do you choose a video doorbell?

Ring has seven video doorbells in its lineup. Four current models, the Ring Video Doorbell, Ring Video Doorbell 2, Ring Video Doorbell Pro, and Video Doorbell Elite install outside an entry door, usually on or adjacent to the door frame, held in place by a security bracket. The fifth model, the Ring Peephole Cam, as its name denotes, installs using an existing entry door peephole, through which the unit’s outside and inside components connect.
Two new models, the Ring Video Doorbell 3 and Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus are available now for preorder for $200 and $230, respectively. The new models will be released on April 8, 2020. The Ring Video Doorbell 3 upgrades (and appear to have replaced) the Video Doorbell 2 with improved motion detection, privacy zones, audio privacy, and dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity. The Video Doorbell 3 Plus adds the Pre-Roll feature, an extra four seconds of black and white video prior to the regular video being triggered by motion detection or a doorbell press.
The various Ring Video Doorbell models range in list price from $100 for the Video Doorbell to $500 for the Video Doorbell Elite. The five models differ in video camera resolution and field of view, dimensions (smaller costs more), Wi-Fi connectivity, and whether they require power from batteries, hardwiring, or Power over Ethernet. All five models support on-demand video two-way talk, and motion-activated alerts and all work with Amazon Alexa.
Advanced features in the more expensive models, the Video Doorbell Pro ($249 list) and Video Doorbell Elite ($499), include dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity and advanced motion detection for customized motion zones in the camera’s field of view.
You can use the Ring app or specific Alexa-enabled display devices and screens to view live video and talk with callers. If you want to see video clips stored in the cloud, you’ll need a subscription to Ring Protect. Subscriptions start at $3 a month after a 30-day free trial period.
It helps to talk with friends or acquaintances who use Ring Video Doorbells to learn from their experiences. You can also read reviews on Digital Trends and Amazon customer reviews. Most customers will be well-served by the Ring Video Doorbell 2 or Ring Video Doorbell Pro, although the other models also get the job done and could be considered, depending on how tight or fat your wallet is currently.
Another factor to consider when selecting a Ring Video Doorbell is your full smart home configuration, current and planned for the future. If you decide to spring the $500 for the Ring Video Doorbell Elite, which is also the only model for which Ring recommends professional installation and an additional cost, that takes $200 to $300 from your budget that could have purchased Ring or other brand security lights, additional indoor or outdoor cameras, or perhaps an extra smart display you can dedicate for use with your home security devices.

Finest low cost Nest Thermostat offers for August 2021

This is a good time to shop for the best cheap Nest Thermostat deals., especially if you’re flexible about the thermostat’s color. We searched the Internet and found a selection of Nest Thermostat deals at major online merchants. We’re seeing decent discounts on not only the base Nest Thermostat E but also the top-of-the-line Nest Learning Thermostat. We also also found bundles of two thermostats or one thermostat and one, two, or three Nest Thermostat remote sensors.

Should you buy a Nest Thermostat?
The short answer is yes. Nest Thermostats are typically at their cheapest at the end of the year, and this year is no different. If you’re looking to improve convenience and cut costs on your heating bill, this is the time to buy. You’ll need to be quick, though: Stock is already running low … hurry, hurry, hurry!
How do Nest Temperature Sensors work?
The Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E both support Nest Temperature Sensors. These Nest sensors connect wirelessly with a Nest Thermostat via Bluetooth. For less than $50 each, you can use Nest Thermostat sensors to fine tune the temperatures in your home based on time of day, season of the year, and your family’s personal preferences.
Once synced, the Nest Temperature Sensors then detect and report hot and cold spots in your home to a Nest Thermostat. You can set a Nest Thermostat to prioritize different sensors at different times as well. For example, if you work at home, you could have a Nest Temperature Sensor in your home office and set the thermostat to give priority to your office sensor during your regular working hours.
In the evening, you could prioritize a sensor in the family room or den and then switch to a sensor in your bedroom during your regular sleeping hours. This allows you (or rather, it allows your Nest Thermostat) to regulate the temperature in different rooms rather than throughout your entire home depending on your daily habits, which reduces overall energy consumption.
A single Nest thermostat can support up to six connected sensors. If you have multiple heating zones, each with its own Nest thermostat, then you can have up to a total of 18 sensors (limited to a max of six sensors per thermostat).

With a Ninja Foodi on your counter, what will you cook? Ninja Foodi recipes

Any new kitchen appliance in your home is only as good as the dishes or meals you put on the table after using it. Unless you have previous experience using a multifunction pressure cooker, for example, setting one on the counter doesn’t automatically result in snacks and meals appearing out of the air. To begin, you’re going to need recipes to follow, at least until you become familiar with the new appliance’s operation and learn what you can and can’t do with it.
Ninja Kitchen has resources on its website for home cooks with Ninja Foodi appliances. Under the heading “Have fun with your Foodi,” the Ninja Foodi recipes website pages include Kickstarter 101 recipes for herb-roasted chicken, panko-crusted cod with quinoa, baked macaroni and cheese, and teriyaki chicken, broccoli, and rice. These four recipes introduce you to using the Foodi for familiar foods.
Once you get a feel for the basics with a Ninja Foodi, the next tool in the Ninja Kitchen, “Let’s get cooking,” is a collection of nearly 200 recipes with a selection tool. You can filter recipes by meal type, season (including holidays), cooking style, dietary preference, cuisine, and difficulty level. Each recipe has photographs of the finished dish along with prep times, cooking times, and the number of servings.
The Ninja Kitchen website also has a more extensive recipe repository with hundreds of recipes for all Ninja brand appliances, so you should never run out of new ideas.
In addition to the recipes, the Ninja Foodi Kitchen includes guides with cooking tips and tricks, and charts for crisping, steaming, and pressure cooking.

Greatest low cost air fryer offers for August 2021: Instantaneous Pot, Ninja, and Sprint

The continued popularity of cheap air fryer deals isn’t for cooking wings and fries. Air fryers use only a fraction of the cooking oil needed for deep frying. Often a few squirts of an oil-based cooking spray are all you’ll need. We found excellent air fryer sales from Instant Pot,  Proscenic, Dash, Ninja, and more. If you’re wondering about air frying and convection cooking (they both cook with hot air), we cover that, too, below the deals. You probably clicked on this post to see the best air fryer deals, so scroll down to find them.
Today’s best air fryer deals

How do I choose the right air fryer?
With the growth of air fryer popularity, the variety of models on the market has grown to the point that choosing the best model for your kitchen can be confusing. The primary considerations in shopping for an air fryer are capacity, controls, added air frying features, and additional cooking functions.
In general, you’ll find air fryer baskets that range from about 3 quarts to 6 quarts. For a single person or a couple or if you want to heat some wings and fries, smaller is just fine. If you’re going to be preparing dishes and full meals for a family with an air fryer, even if only once in a while, buy a larger model.
Air fryers with manual controls usually have two settings: Cooking temperature and cooking time.  As long as you know the desired settings, turn the dials to the proper temperature and time and let it cook. Digital air fryers are usually pretty easy to use, but they are more complicated than manual models. If the fryer you’re looking at also roasts, bakes, broils, dehydrates, and more, chances are it will have a digital control panel, often with several presets for various cooking modes or types of food.
Single-purpose air fryers do one type of cooking. If you already have a countertop full of other appliances, including a toaster, convection oven, and perhaps an indoor grill, a multifunction air fryer is just duplication. If, on the other hand, counter space is at a premium in your kitchen, a multifunction model is a smart buy because one appliance can serve several purposes. One common and desirable feature for air fryers is the ability to crisp the outside of food. Typically crisping is the last step in the air frying process and may require a separate add-on component.  Because traditional deep-fried foods usually have crispy exteriors, an air fryer with a crisping function isn’t considered a multifunctional cooker. It’s just a complete air fryer.
As you saw above, you can spend from $50  to $200 or more for air fryers. Larger models with digital controls and multiple cooking functions cost more than smaller air fryers with manual controls solely for air frying time and temperature.
Is air frying the same as convection cooking?
Air fryers have become so popular in the past few years you wouldn’t be alone in thinking it’s a new cooking technology. The core technology for air frying has been used in cooking for more than 70 years. It was and still is called convection cooking. Air fryers and convection ovens both cook food by using fans to circulate hot air.
While the underlying technology is identical, the implementations differ, at least in their purest senses. A simple air fryer usually resembles a squat cylinder. Convection ovens generally have a rectangular shape with a door that opens in the front to reveal one or more removable trays. Food cooked in an air fryer sits on a rack on the bottom of a removable basket. You put food on trays or shelves to cook in convection ovens.
Convection ovens generally have a larger capacity than air fryers so the ovens can hold more food to cook at the same time. Because air fryers don’t have to fill as much space with hot moving air, air fryers usually cook food faster than convection ovens. Often, air fryers are louder than convection ovens they use fans to circulate hot air around the cooking area.
You can find multifunction cookers that claim to be both air fryers and convection ovens. Based on the size and shape, you can tell which of the two variations on the same them the device more closely resembles. Both forms often have settings for baking, roasting, broiling, and dehydrating food, but at heart, they’re either an air fryer or a convection oven.

What’s all the fuss? Instant Pot features and benefits

Size – According to Instant Pot, the various sizes within each model are best for cooking for the following numbers of people: 3 quarts for one or two people; 6 quarts for up to six people; 8 quarts and 10 quarts for large families or groups.
Functions – Instant Pots have a minimum of six cooking functions, which means you only need counter and storage space, and you only need to learn how to use a single appliance instead of several.
Preset programs – The built-in cooking settings for pressure, temperature, and time for cooking eggs, making rice, stew, or cooking meat, for example, take the guesswork out of cooking. You can always adjust the presets or make the initial settings manually if you prefer, but the ease of one-touch control is a tangible benefit.
Control panel – Instant Pots use various types of control panels, with LED or LCDs, one-touch buttons, and set-and-select dials. As with the presets, you can always control the cooking manually, but simplicity is your friend when you’re in a hurry.
Safety features – All cooking appliances benefit from protection from usage errors that can ruin the food or cause harm, and pressure cookers require extra safeguards. Instant Pots have at least ten types of safety measures, including such standards as steam releases, safety lid locks, overheating protection, fuses for electrical current overloads or excessive cooking temperatures, and more.
