Convergence by Jenny Sabin Studio, World's Largest 3D Printed Metal Sculpture, is Now Open on College of Nebraska Medical Heart's Campus

Jenny Sabin Studio as we speak introduced the opening of Convergence, a 28-foot tall public sculpture sited on the brand new William H. Northwall, MD, Plaza on the College of Nebraska Medical Heart. The profitable design was chosen by the College of Nebraska Medical Heart and the Nebraska Arts Council 1% for Artwork Program.

“Convergence is a course of or state of coming collectively, the place flows and currents meet and evolve collectively in a shared setting. Convergence celebrates the thriving and wealthy heritage of excellence of the College of Nebraska Medical Heart, via modern fabrication methods and materialized ideas that embed change, transformation and contemplation,” says Jenny Sabin, principal and lead architectural designer at Jenny Sabin Studio.

Convergence options chrome steel wire arc additive manufacturing via robotic 3D printing, CNC polycarbonate panels laminated with wavelength dependent dichroic movie, and chrome steel rings. As a set of built-in materials relationships, the design for Convergence incorporates part-to-whole 3D printed and machined element methods to understand a venture that celebrates lightness, dynamic construction, and equilibrium via equal and reverse forces. Via part-to-whole, particular person, and collective, the venture displays and celebrates the school, docs, college students, researchers, directors, and neighborhood champions — which have left their mark and outlined UNMC’s previous, current and future.

•          4,000 lbs of robotically 3D printed chrome steel by Lincoln Electrical Additive Options

•          Robotic 3D printing makes use of much less metal materials than conventional fabrication strategies to cut back waste and save time

•          9 distinctive 3D printed chrome steel panels

•          One of many largest 3D printed chrome steel constructions on the planet

•          Responsive wavelength-dependent dichroic movie laminated to digitally fabricated polycarbonate panels.
